A complete 8-coin 2004 & 2005 P & D set of Brilliant Uncirculated Westward Journey Nickels! Set contains a P & D mint mark set of all 4 Westward Journey designs 2004: Peace Medal and Keelboat 2005: Bison and Ocean View P mint mark coins are from the Philadelphia Mint. D mint mark coins are from the Denver Mint. 2004 Designs:Peace Medal & Keeboat The first of two new reverses on the 2004-dated Jefferson nickel will feature a rendition of the reverse of the original Indian Peace Medal commissioned for Lewis and Clark's expedition, bearing the likeness of America's third president on one side, and symbols of peace and friendship on the other. In late 2004, the nickel features an angled, side-view of the keelboat with full sail that transported members of the expedition and their supplies through the rivers of the Louisiana Territory in search of a northwest passage to the Pacific Ocean. 2005 Designs: American Bison & Ocean View In 2005, both the obverse and reverse of the nickel will feature new designs. The obverse, designed by Joseph Fitzgerald, will still contain a likeness of Jefferson, but the new design will only show a portion of the bust which will be offset to the left of the nickel. The motto "Liberty" and the date will be repositioned. The first issue of 2005, designed by Jamie Franki, will feature the familiar American bison, a take-off on the much-loved buffalo nickel design. The second reverse issue of 2005, designed by Joseph Fitzgerald, will feature the ocean view enjoyed by Lewis and Clark when they reached the Pacific shore. Price: $2.95
