2006 Benjamin Franklin "Scientist" Proof Silver Dollar
Celebrating the tercentenary (300 year anniversary) of Benjamin Franklin's birth, the "Scientist" coin displays a rendition of Franklin and his legendary kite experiment on it's obverse.
The reverse of the coin features a recreation of his political cartoon "Join, or Die." that was published in his Pennsylvania Gazette on May 9, 1754.
Each coin is packaged in a presentation case along with it's own official Certificate of Authenticity signed by the Acting Director of the United States Mint.
The coin is 90% silver and 10% copper. Its diameter is 1.5 inches and it weighs 26.73 grams.
The "Scientist" coin is limited to 250,000 units across the proof, uncirculated and Coin& Chronicles options.
