The 1999 New Jersey State Quarter
- Each state quarter collection card includes two brilliant uncirculated
quarters: one has a Denver (D) mint mark and the other Philadelphia (P).
These are the only US minted coins produced for circulation.
- New Jersey became the 3rd state to enter the union on December 18, 1787.
- The New Jersey Quarter features a rendering of George Washington crossing the Delaware River. The design is based on the 1851 painting by Emmanuel Leutze which hangs in the Metropolitan Mueseum of Art in New York City. Underneath, the words "Crossroads of the Revolution" are printed. The Commemorative Coin Design Commission Selected the design by Unanimous Vote.
- 363,200,000 quarters were minted at the Philadelphia mint and 299,028,000 were minted at the Denver mint for a total of 62,228,000 New Jersey quarters minted during a 10 week production span.
